Most metal sheds sold online ship without a floor (you build a slab or buy a floor kit separately). Ours include pressure-treated 4×6 skids, 2×6 floor joists on 16" centers with solid blocking at every seam, and 3/4" tongue-and-groove pressure-treated plywood — screwed down (not nailed).

Rated for 75 lbs/sq ft of evenly distributed load: an 8×10 holds up to 6,000 lbs, a 12×16 holds up to 14,400 lbs. Need a slab-mount instead (for greenhouses or an existing concrete pad)? Just ask — no upcharge to remove the floor.

In Florida and Georgia, sheds over 10×10 typically require a permit, though some counties exempt smaller structures. Three things keep a Southeast metal shed cool and dry:

1. Ventilation: Add gable vents (offered at order) or a ridge vent — these let hot air escape and stop moisture from sitting on the underside of the roof.
2. Insulation: For workshops or year-round use, add reflective bubble-foil insulation between the metal panels and the framing (we can spec this at order, or you can add it after installation).
3. Site prep: Place the shed on a level, well-drained spot with at least 2 feet of clearance from trees. Keep the perimeter clear of mulch and standing water.

For cleaning, a standard mix of household bleach and water rinsed off with a hose removes mildew, leaf stains, and tree sap. No painting, sealing, or annual treatment required.
