Metal Garages with Quality Materials

Galvalume RollsGalvalume has superior durability and corrosion resistance compared to traditional metal roofing made from galvanized steel.

Galvalume combines three of the highest performing metals used in roofing. A continuously dipped carbon base sheet with aluminum and zinc alloys. Creating substrate coating that consists of 55% aluminum, 43.4% Zinc, and 1.6% silicone.

Some refer to galvalume as AZ-50 or AZ-55, based on the ounces per sq ft of aluminum-zinc alloy coating. AZ-50 is typically used in painted sheets, while AZ-55 is typically used on bare or unpainted sheets or coil products.

Multiple Layers of Protection:

Bare Steel, Substrate, Pretreatment, Primer Coat, Top Coat

  • Top Coat – Premium ceramic and inorganic pigment for exceptional color, durability and gloss.
  • Primer Coat – UV and Moisture resistant, which is a key component to the products longevity.
  • Pre-Treatment – Promotes adhesion, moisture, and corrosion resistance.
  • Substrate – Galvalume or Galvanized – metallic coating barrier protection on base steel, to prevent corrosion.
  • Bare Steel – Mill certified, meeting ASTM standards.
  • Substrate - Galvalume or Galvanized – metallic coating barrier protection on base steel, to prevent corrosion.
  • Pre-Treatment – Promotes adhesion, moisture, and corrosion resistance.
  • Primer Coat – UV and Moisture resistant, which is a key component to the products longevity.
  • Backer Coat – Finish coat on backside, covers primer and insures consistent color.

Structural Strength

2.5x2.5 Inch Square Tubing for Structural Support

We use 2.5" x 2.5" square, 14-gauge, or 12-gauge, galvanized tubing for our metal building framing. The galvanized steel provides rust and corrosion prevention.

Extra Heavy Duty Panels

2.5x2.5 Inch Square Tubing for Structural Support

High Ribbed Metal Panels, for extra strength and heat dissipation, used on roofing and walls, standard 29-gauge with optional 26-gauge upgrade.

Metal Garage FAQs

Common questions about buying, sizing, customizing, and installing a metal garage from Keen's Buildings.

What can a metal garage be used for?

A metal garage can be used for vehicle storage, workshops, home gyms, equipment sheds, commercial workspaces, and covered recreational areas. The clear-span interior and open layout make Keen's Buildings steel garages adaptable to virtually any residential, agricultural, or commercial use.

  • Vehicle protection — shield cars, trucks, RVs, and boats from sun, rain, and hail to preserve paint and extend vehicle life.
  • Workshops & hobby studios — an ideal clear-span footprint for woodworking, mechanics, home gyms, and creative spaces.
  • Storage solutions — secure, weather-tight space for tools, equipment, bikes, and seasonal items.
  • Agricultural & commercial use — equipment shelter, covered parking, merchandise display, or sheltered work areas for small businesses.
  • Recreational space — RV parks and homeowners often convert metal garages into shaded entertainment areas.

What sizes do metal garages come in?

Keen's Buildings metal garages range from 12 to 60 feet wide, 20 to 300+ feet long, and 6 to 14+ feet in leg height, with lengths extending in 5-foot increments. Widths of 12'–20' fit single-car garages, 22'–30' suit double-wides, and 32'–60' handle triple-wide and extra-large builds.

Pro Tip: Choose a garage at least 4 feet taller than your tallest vehicle to prevent heat buildup and ensure airflow.

How much does a metal garage cost?

A metal garage typically costs $5,500 to $18,000+, depending on size, steel gauge, roof style, and upgrades. A single-car 12×20 garage starts around $5,500–$9,000, a 24×25 double garage runs $6,300–$12,000, a 30×20 triple garage costs $7,500–$12,000, and an 18×35–18×40 RV garage ranges from $9,500 to $18,000+.

Garage Type Typical Size Estimated Cost
Single Garage 12×20 $5,500 – $9,000
Double Garage 24×25 $6,300 – $12,000
Triple Garage 30×20 $7,500 – $12,000
RV Garage 18×35 or 18×40 $9,500 – $18,000+

Note: Final pricing varies by state, steel gauge, and customization. Concrete (~$7.60/sq ft) and insulation (~$3/sq ft per surface) are priced separately and can be rolled into financing.

How do I prepare the ground for a metal garage?

A metal garage can be installed on concrete, asphalt, gravel, or dirt as long as the surface is level within about 3 inches across the building footprint. Concrete slabs are required for engineer-certified installations, and gravel pads should be at least 4 inches deep and extend at least 2 feet beyond the footprint on all sides.

Every Keen's Buildings structure is anchored to engineered specifications during installation:

  • Concrete: wedge / anchor bolts drilled into the slab
  • Dirt or gravel: mobile-home-style auger anchors driven into the ground
  • Asphalt: mobile home anchors

Installers can adjust legs 2–3 inches on the bottom rail to accommodate minor grade variations, but sites with slopes greater than 3 inches should be graded or leveled beforehand.

Pro Tip: Add drainage grading to prevent standing water beneath the structure, and extend your pad at least 2 feet past the footprint for the best results.

Can metal garages be customized?

Yes — every Keen's Buildings metal garage is fully customizable. You can configure dimensions, roof style (regular, boxed eave, or vertical), panel colors, door sizes and placement, windows, walk-in entries, lean-to extensions, insulation, and interior partition walls all the way up to engineer-certified level.

You can also add upgrades after installation. Our metal buildings are designed to be modular and expandable — additional doors, windows, insulation, lean-tos, and interior framing can all be added later without altering the original structure. A $50 return-trip fee applies to add-on orders under $795.

How long does it take to install a metal garage?

Most standard metal garages are installed in 8 to 12 hours and completed in a single day by a professional Keen's Buildings crew. Larger custom builds — such as triple-wides, lean-to additions, or heavily customized structures — may take up to two days, and delivery is typically scheduled within 1 to 4 weeks of ordering, weather permitting.
